Marissa Kilpatrick
I have been in the accounting industry for over 7 years. I’ve
worked at large tax and accounting firms as well as in the oil and gas
industry. However, after spending time in the industry, my husband and
I decided to start a family. After my daughter was born, I really
wanted to try public accounting, and found Baker and Company to be the
best fit for my lifestyle. They gave me complete flexibility over my
schedule so I can still work the hours I want, but I can also be home
to take care of my daughter. Additionally, they quickly integrated me
into a position that allowed me to find my own nitch. I am now
certified in QuickBooks 2008 and 2009 and will be advanced certified
at year end. I am developing relationships with large clients and will
start training small business owners in the near future on how to
handle their accounting needs and coach them on tax decisions. Most
importantly, the casual – and fun--atmosphere and genuine
flexibility really makes this firm a unique place to work, especially
when you are just starting a family.
