Become all you were created to be.

The progression through the education experience has no doubt included stories of life after graduation. Grueling hours, travel and time away from home are often the expected for life in accounting. At Baker & Company, we try to balance things out, where life is not necessarily consumed by your career.

Baker & company OfficeWe do this by working smart. Although an overused cliché, in our case we like to think it is true. We take every effort to enhance efficiency by having an office that is paperless, utilizing remote access capabilities, and running a secure network allowing staff access to the database. An IP phone system offers added flexibility to the office allowing staff members to receive and return phone calls from home, without sacrificing their privacy.

Julia Janis is an example of a success story at Baker & Company. She has worked for the firm for 5 years, starting her career while still pursuing her Masters Degree in college. Julia is now a Senior Accounting Advisor with Baker & Company, a Certified Public Accountant and an Advanced Certified QuickBooks Advisor. Julia feels this is the place to grow and has already developed a book of business that calls on her directly for tax and accounting needs.

Cheryl Giddens, however, tells a different success story. Cheryl, the first employee hired by the firm, is also an Advanced Certified QuickBooks Advisor with her own book of business. Recently she and her husband started their own business. As the business grew, Cheryl needed a steady income, benefits and the security of a full time job. Their thriving business is now several years old. As Cheryl’s need for flexibility arose, we altered the schedule to allow time for her husband’s business and availability for her children. She
never missed a beat and now works completely from home, supporting her husband’s business and recently sent their oldest daughter to the University of Oklahoma for her freshman year. Two very different stories, both working successfully and both enjoying their career at Baker & Company.

A Unique Environment

The relaxed environment that welcomes people to our office is refreshing to all our clients, staff, and friends of the firm. Everyone is amazed at the creative and open feel that the firm provides.

Pool tableLocated in Deep Ellum in the historic Studebaker Building the firm offers an edge that is often found missing in traditional accounting offices. As accountants, we can be pressed into a corner and limited in personal expression.

Creativity is limited and often a firm is driven by how things have always been, not how things could or should be. We strive to ethically live outside the box, so when clients and situations arise that causes us to think outside the box, we can find a unique solution to their individual situation.

At Baker & Company we create an environment that really does enable our staff and our clients to become all they were created to be.
